Midco® and City of Greenfield Partner to Bring Fiber Network to Area

Greenfield, MN - Homes and businesses in Greenfield will soon have access to the fastest internet speeds in the state. Midco began construction in April to expand its high-speed wired broadband network to the city, which will connect more than 1,000 homes and businesses by the end of the year. Midco’s FTTP (Fiber-to-the-Premises) design will bring Greenfield residents a best-in-class symmetrical, low-latency connection capable of up to 5 Gbps.

“It’s been a collaborative effort,” said Midco CFO and Executive Vice President Steve Grosser. “We’re thrilled to provide services in Greenfield and grateful for the partnership with the City of Greenfield. Their Internet Task Force and local leaders have worked alongside us every step of the way.”

“I am thankful for the leadership shown by our council, the work of the task force, and for the partnership with Midco that is making this happen,” said Greenfield Mayor Brad Johnson. “The City of Greenfield is thrilled with the state-of-the-art technology and speeds that Midco will be offering to our community.”

“This is a major accomplishment for the citizens of Greenfield, and I believe our community has found a great partner in Midco,” said Greenfield City Councilor and Internet Task Force Representative Kyal Klawitter. “Access to reliable, high-speed Internet has long been a concern for our residents. The hard work and dedication of the citizen taskforce and partnership with the city really made this possible. This is really a shining example of how a community can come together and solve a collective problem. Throughout the whole process Midco has shown themselves to be an absolute awesome partner and delivered on 100% of their promises.  We are looking forward to having Midco as part of our community for many, many years to come.”

Midco’s broadband network extension will improve access to critical e-learning applications and health care resources, enable telecommuting options for Greenfield residents and make businesses and city institutions more efficient.
