Activation and Setup
Once you place your order, you’ll activate your device(s) through your Midco Mobile account. Activation steps depend on whether you chose eSIM or physical SIM and whether you’re bringing your own device or activating a new phone.
Before starting activation:
- Have Wi-Fi available (especially for eSIM download and software updates).
- Fully charge your phone.
- Back up your device if you plan to move data to a new phone.
Activate a New Device
Activation connects your phone and phone number to your Midco Mobile plan. During activation, you may confirm device details and number selection (new number or transfer).
You’ll typically need three items from your current provider:
- Phone number you’re transferring
- Account number
- Transfer PIN (sometimes called “port-out PIN”)
If the information doesn’t match your current provider’s records, the transfer may be delayed. Keep your current service active until the transfer finishes.
To port-in a number in your Mobile My Account:
- Confirm your phone number to port is active and click Transfer Number.
- You’ll need to enter the account number from your current mobile provider and the transfer PIN. Also confirm that the ZIP code matches what is on file with your current mobile provider.
- Once updated/filled in, click Transfer Now.
eSIM activation generally involves downloading the eSIM to your device (often via QR code or inappin-app steps).
Common steps:
First, grab a second device and log in to your Midco Mobile account and pull up the activation QR code.
- On your phone, go to your Settings.
- Open your Cellular/Mobile Data (iPhone) or Network & internet or Connections (Android).
- Tap SIMs or SIM manager.
- If you have already transferred your number successfully, delete the eSIM for your current provider.
- Select Add eSIM, or similar.
- Using your device (the one you’re activating), scan the QR code. Or enter activation details manually if prompted.
- Confirm which line is default for calls and data (especially if you use dual SIM).
Physical SIM activation requires inserting the SIM into the phone.
Common steps:
- Remove the activated SIM card from the kit provided and choose the correct SIM size for your phone.
- Power your phone off and open the SIM tray
- Using the tool provided, remove any existing SIM.
- Insert the Midco Mobile SIM and close the tray.
- Restart the phone and complete any carrier settings updates.
- Return to your Midco Mobile account to complete activation prompts.
If you’re activating more than one phone, it’s easiest to:
- Activate one device at a time.
- Label each SIM (or keep each QR code tied to the correct line).
- Confirm each line can make calls/text and use data before moving to the next.
Device Setup Overview
After activation, confirm that the basics are working, such as calling, texting and data. Plus, test out any features that you plan on using such as hotspot, Wi-Fi calling and voicemail. If something isn’t working, a restart and a quick settings check often resolves initial issues.
Software Updates
Keeping your device updated helps avoid activation issues, improves security and ensures compatibility with carrier features (like Wi-Fi Calling and visual voicemail). If you hit an activation snag, installing updates first is one of the best first steps.
Tip: Looking for something? Search Phone Settings
Some steps differ based on device model and version. If the instructions you see on your phone don’t match exactly, search the device settings for the feature name. For example: “Wi-Fi Calling,” “eSIM,” or “Reset network settings.”
