Midco Foundation Awards 68 Grants

Sioux Falls, SD – The Midco Foundation has awarded $98,500 to 68 nonprofits, schools and government organizations. Recognized as positive changemakers in their respective 32 communities, the grants are part of an ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities Midco serves.

"These organizations and the many people behind them are making such a difference in the communities we serve," said Wynne Haakenstad, Chair and Executive Director of the Midco Foundation. "With great care, our foundation board – comprised of Midco team members  – selected 68 worthy organizations to receive grants. We are honored to help them continue the great work they do to support our communities."

The Foundation board reviews and approves funding requests to charitable entities twice a year. Since 1988, the Foundation has awarded more than $4 million to causes within its service area. Some of the grantees include:

  • Ely Area Food Shelf: $2,500 for food pantry purchases and 25 turkeys and 25 hams to distribute to guests before the Christmas holiday
  • Grand Forks Foundation for Education: $2,000 to build a wheelchair accessible playground

The Midco Foundation encourages nonprofit organizations in the communities it serves to apply for future grants for special projects, facilities improvements, equipment and programs.
