Find Something to Watch

With the TiVo Experience, it’s easy to find what you want to watch on TV. Your TiVo DVR even gives you suggestions for stuff you might like based on your ratings and previously watched shows and movies.

What to Watch lets you browse shows that are available to stream, watch live, bookmark or record. To get to What to Watch, select What to Watch from the Home screen, or press 2 on your remote (if you have the newer TiVo experience).

Top-level categories include On TV Today, Sports, Movies, TV Series, Kids and more. Each category also includes more specific subcategories to help you find exactly what you want to watch.

  1. Use the up and down arrow buttons on your remote to move to a category.
  2. Scroll through the strip of shows using the left and right arrows, Or press Replay to move to the View All or More tile at the beginning of the strip of shows. Select OK to dive deeper into subcategories.
  3. Use the Back button (or the Zoom button on remotes without a Back button) to go back to the previous screen.

TiVo Suggestions finds shows you may like to watch and automatically records them (when your TiVo DVR has space). These suggestions appear as a filter in your My Shows list.

Note: TiVo Suggestions never replace shows you record or prevents other shows from being recorded. TiVo Suggestions are also always the first shows deleted to make room for other recordings you set up.

If you want to stop your DVR from automatically recording suggestions:

  1. From the Home screen, select the Menu icon and then Settings.
  2. Choose User Preferences and then TiVo Suggestions.
Rate Shows

Rating shows helps TiVo Suggestions create a list of shows you might like. The more shows you rate, the better your TiVo Suggestions will get at finding shows you’ll be interested.

To rate shows – whether live, recorded or listed in the program guide – press the Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down button on your remote. You can give a show up to three Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down.

You can also create a WishList® search to help you find show you want to watch.

To help you find the items you really want to watch, look for colored boxes containing numbers throughout the TiVo Experience. These help you tell at a glance whether a sports event or movie is worth watching.

Thuuz Sports Ratings

Thuuz ratings can help you decide whether or not to tune in to a sports game. Sports in What to Watch are tagged with a Thuuz excitement score from 0-100, with 100 being the best. These ratings can change up until the game is completed, at which time the number will be fixed.

The following sports support Thuuz ratings:

  • North America leagues: NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS, NCAA Football and NCAA Men’s Basketball.
  • European leagues: EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, UEFA Champions/Europa
  • Global Sports: Golf (PGA), Tennis (ATP)

If you want to turn Thuuz ratings off:

  1. From the Home screen, select the Menu icon, and then Settings.
  2. Choose User Preferences and then Thuuz Sports Ratings.
Metacritic Movie Ratings

Metacritic tells you at a glance what critics are saying about a movie. It takes all the available reviews for a movie, averages them, and gives you a combined score.

Movies are rated on a scale of 0-100 – with 100 being the best – and are color-coded red (for low scores), yellow (for middle scores) and green (for top scores). You’ll see these scores on movies in What to Watch, Search, My Shows, your on-screen Guide and more.
