Use the steps on this page to program your Midco-provided remote to control your TV or other devices.

If you have a TiVo® DVR or TiVo Mini, use these instructions.

If you have MidcoTV, use these instructions instead.

For remote controls provided with the Evolution HD Digital Adapter from Midco that have the yellow OK/ENTER button.

Quick Program – Popular Brands

If the TV brand needed is not on the list, use one of the other two programming methods.

  1. Make sure the TV is on before starting remote control setup.
  2. Hold the Setup button until the light on the remote blinks twice.
  3. Press the TV button. The light on the remote will remain solid (red/amber).
  4. Press and hold the correct number key for the TV brand from the list below:

  5. Let go of the number key when the TV turns off. Remote programming is complete for controlling the TV power and volume.
    • 2 blinks: Successful programming
    • 1 long blink: Programming not successful
  6. Confirm that buttons for all needed TV features (power, volume, mute) function as needed.
    • If any buttons are not working, the remote will need to be programmed as normal using codes in the remote's user guide.
Quick Program – Auto Search

Instructions for this method are printed on the back of the remote control.

  1. Make sure the TV is on before starting remote control setup.
  2. Hold the Setup button until the link on the remote blinks twice (red or amber colored light).
  3. Press and hold the OK/Select button. This cycles through various programming codes.
  4. Let go of the OK/Select button when the TV turns off. Remote programming is complete for controlling the TV power and volume.
Program – Direct Code Entry
  1. Make sure the TV is on before starting remote control setup.
  2. Hold the Setup button until the light on the remote blinks twice (red or amber colored light).
  3. Enter the first 4-digit code for the TV brand from the user guide or from the manufacturer's online website. The light on the remote will blink twice.
  4. Press the TV power key to confirm if programming was successful.
    • If the TV turns off, programming is complete.
    • If the TV does not turn off, start at step 1 using the next code.

For remote controls provided with the Evolution HD Digital Adapter from Midco that have the orange MENU button.

To use the quick setup to program your universal remote with your TV:

  1. Press and hold the Setup button until the light on the remote turns green.
  2. Enter the five-digit code for your TV brand. (See the list of common codes for specific TV brands below.)
  3. Press the TV Power button. If the TV turns off, the code has been accepted. Turn the TV back on and make sure the Volume and Mute buttons also work.
    • If the TV didn’t turn off or Volume and Mute don’t work, repeat steps 1 and 2 using the next code on your list.

  1. Locate the three-digit code(s) for your device in the user guide for your remote control model.
    • There may be more than one available code for your device. Make note of all of the available codes, since the first one you enter may not work for your device.
  2. Power on the device.
  3. On the remote control, press and hold the OK/SEL button and the device button together until that button lights up.
    • The device button depends on what device you're trying to program – such as the TV button to program to your TV, or the DVD button to program to your Blu-Ray player.
  4. Point the remote control at the device and enter the three-digit code.
  5. If the device turns off, move to the next step. If the device doesn't turn off, try the other three digit codes you noted for your device until your device turns off.
  6. Press the Power button on your remote to turn the device back on.
  7. After your device turns back on, press the device button to lock in the code. The remote control is now programmed for your device.

Repeat these steps for any other devices you want to program to control with your remote.

If none of the three-digit code number assigned to your brand of equipment works or the code table doesn’t not list your brand, you can use the Auto Program (or Auto Search) method.

  1. Turn on your device.
  2. On the remote control, press and hold the OK/SEL button and the device button together until that button lights up.
  3. The device button depends on what device you're trying to program – such as the TV button to program to your TV, or the DVD button to program to your Blu-Ray player.
  4. Point the remote at the device and press the channel up button until the device turns off.
  5. Use the power button on your remote to turn the device back on.
  6. Press the device button to lock in the code. The remote control is now programmed for your device.

Repeat these steps for any other devices you want to program to control with your remote.

To use quick setup to program your Motorola Digital Adapter Remote Control with your TV:

  1. Press and hold OK and Mute together until the LED illuminates.
  2. Enter the three-digit code for your TV brand. (See the list of common codes for specific TV brands below.)
  3. If the TV turns off, press the Mute button to turn the TV back on and then the OK button to save the code.
    • If the TV doesn’t turn off, try the next code on the list.
    • If the green light on your remote is no longer illuminated, you will need to repeat step 1 before entering the next code.

Setup Codes

Devices use specific codes in order to pair with your specific remote. Most times, these are three-digit codes, though some remotes require five-digit codes.
