Long-Distance Calls
To make a long-distance call, dial 1 + area code + seven-digit phone number.
Why can’t I make long distance calls to rural numbers?
If you're having trouble completing a long-distance phone call to a rural number, email us at CallCompletion@Midco.com, or call us at 1.800.888.1300. If you're a telecommunications carrier, call 1.800.305.1955.
Can I choose my own long-distance carrier?
Yes, you can choose your own long-distance provider. However, to qualify for our unlimited long distance, which is also included with our Home Phone package, you must choose Midco as your local and long-distance provider.
Switching to Midco Long Distance
If you’re changing to Midco’s long-distance service, you must notify your current carrier that you want to terminate your long-distance service with them.
- Some carriers will require written authorization.
- If you choose to keep your current long-distance carrier, you must notify them that Midco is now your local phone service provider.
- Midco must be designated as your long-distance carrier in order to take advantage of our Home Phone package with unlimited, domestic long-distance calling.
Our Home Phone package includes unlimited long distance calling in United States (Alaska & Hawaii included), Canada, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Guam. Placing calls to these countries does NOT require country codes.
The table below outlines international calling rates to countries not included in our unlimited long distance, as well as standard country calling rates for Basic Home Phone customers.
To make your long-distance call, first dial 011. This is the international access code, sometimes known as the international direct dialing (IDD) code, for the United States. Then, enter the code of the country you want to call, followed by the proper area code and the number you wish to call.

Are you having problems dialing an international telephone number? Your telephone’s long distance must be set up to allow international calling. If you have our Home Phone package and cannot make an international call, your account is more than likely set up for domestic calling only. Please contact us to set up international calling capabilities. There is no monthly fee for this service; only your international long distance usage will be charged.
