Caller ID & Call Waiting
Caller ID
Find out who is calling you without having to pick up the phone with caller ID. To use caller ID, your phone must have a display unit that stores names and numbers of recent callers. If not, you may purchase caller ID equipment separately.1
After an incoming call’s first ring, a caller’s number and/or name appear on your phone (if it includes this feature) or on an external display unit you can buy separately.
Callers who block their caller ID information will display as private or anonymous on the caller ID. You can block incoming private or anonymous calls using anonymous call rejection.
This optional phone service is available from Midco for an additional monthly fee.
When you subscribe to this feature, no other customer activation is necessary with Midco. You'll want to follow the directions included with your third-party, caller ID display unit.
- To activate caller ID: Lift your handset, and press *65. Now the incoming caller’s name and numbers will appear on your caller ID screen when you receive a call.
- To deactivate caller ID and no longer like to see caller information: Lift your handset, and press *87.
By default, your name and phone number will appear on the caller ID equipment of those you call, unless you have chosen non-published service. If you’d like to block your information from displaying, you can activate a caller ID block.
To activate caller ID block:
- Lift your handset, and press *67.
- Enter the phone number you’d like to call. If the receiving party has caller ID, it will display “Private,” rather than your name and number.
- When the call is complete, hang up.
Your caller ID feature is restored.
To unblock caller ID:
- Lift your handset, and press *82.
- Enter the phone number you’d like to call. If the receiving party has caller ID, it will display your name and number.
- When the call is complete, hang up.
Caller ID blocking is restored.
Although caller ID displays are helpful for identify incoming callers, this service can be susceptible to fraud caller ID spoofing. Fraudsters can deliberately falsify the phone number that’s relayed on the caller ID to disguise the identity and originator of the call.
