Call Forwarding

Call forwarding allows you to forward calls temporarily to another number. Long-distance charges may apply to calls forwarded outside your local call area.

Metaswitch Voicemail: KS customers and any customers installed after October 16, 2020.

  • To activate: On your touch-tone phone, press *72.
  • When you hear the dial tone, dial the number you want to receive your forwarded calls followed by #.
  • To Deactivate: Lift your handset, and press *73. Two short tones and a dial tone confirm calls are no longer forwarding.

APMAX Voicemail: MN, ND and SD customers installed before October 16, 2020.

  • To activate: On your touch-tone phone, press *72.
    When you hear the dial tone, dial the number you want to receive your forwarded calls. Wait for the person to answer.
  • If no one answers the phone, or the line is busy, hang up and repeat steps 1 and 2. When call forwarding universal has been activated, you will hear a fast-busy signal.
  • To Deactivate: Lift your handset, and press *73. The stutter tone and a fast-busy signal indicate that calls are no longer forwarding.

MN, ND and SD customers installed before October 16, 2020.

  1. Log in to My Account.
  2. Click Home Phone and then Manage Phone Features.
  3. Select your phone number in the dropdown. Please note that it may take up to 20 seconds to connect to your phone features.
  4. Go to the Call Forwarding Universal section to see the status of this feature on your account. Click Disable to turn it off, or Enable to turn it on. If you're enabling call forwarding universal, enter the Call Forward Number where you want to receive calls, and click Save.
    • For most local numbers, enter the seven-digit number, such as: 5551212.
    • For local numbers requiring 10-digit local dialing, enter the full 10-digit number.
    • To forward to a long-distance number, enter 1 + the area code, such as: 16055551212.

Available to KS customers and any customers installed after October 16, 2020.

Use call forwarding busy line if you want to redirect incoming calls to another number while you’re on the phone. Note: This feature doesn’t work if you’re using call waiting.

To activate busy call forwarding:

  1. Lift your handset, and press *90.
  2. After the tone, enter the phone number where you want to forward the calls.

A confirmation tone or announcement confirms call forwarding is activated.

To deactivate busy call forwarding:

  • Lift your handset, and press *91.

If one caller is still on the line, your phone will ring and you'll be connected when you pick up.

Available to KS customers and any customers installed after October 16, 2020.

Use call forwarding no answer if you want to redirect incoming calls to another number if a call isn’t picked up after a specified number of rings. Note: This feature doesn’t work if you’re using call waiting.

To activate call forwarding no answer:

  1. Lift your handset, and press *92.
  2. After the tone, enter the phone number where you want to forward the calls.

A confirmation tone or announcement confirms call forwarding is activated.

To deactivate call forwarding no answer:

  • Lift your handset, and press *93.

If one caller is still on the line, your phone will ring and you'll be connected when you pick up.

Available to KS customers and any customers installed after October 16, 2020.

Known as call forwarding remote access, use feature if you want to forward your calls to another line – but you’re not home to access your home phone.

  1. Lift your handset, and enter the access number for your home phone location:
    • Lawrence or Eudora: 785.856.6999
    • Basehor or Tonganoxie: 913.417.6999
    • Bonner Springs or Kansas City: 913.955.6999
    • Toll Free Access (Nationwide): 833.582.1162
  2. Enter your home phone number, followed by #.
  3. Enter your call services PIN, followed by #.

  4. Follow the steps on this page to Forward All Calls on Your Phone.

To deactivate call forwarding remote access:

  1. Lift your handset, and enter the access number for your home phone location:
    • Lawrence or Eudora: 785.856.6999

    • Bonner Springs or Kansas City: 913.955.6999
    • Toll Free Access (Nationwide): 833.582.1162
  2. Enter your home phone number, followed by #.
  3. Enter your call services PIN, followed by #.

  4. Enter *73.

Available to KS customers and any customers installed after October 16, 2020.

Certain features, such as call forwarding options, may require you to create a unique PIN. You can change your PIN at any time.

To change your call services PIN:

  1. Lift your handset, and press *319.
  2. Enter your current PIN, followed by #.
  3. Enter your new PIN, followed by #.

You should hear confirmation of the new PIN you entered.
