Midcontinent Foundation awards over $94,000 in grants

August 28, 2014 - Sioux Falls, SD: The Midcontinent Foundation has released the list of charities to benefit from Fall 2014 Grants. Sixty-two charities from throughout Midcontinent Communication’s footprint in South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota will benefit from a distribution of more than $94,000.00.

“Our company’s values are more than just words on a piece of paper,” says Tom Simmons, Senior Vice President of Public Policy for Midcontinent Communications & Chairman of the Foundation. “We take corporate responsibility, employee-volunteerism and charitable giving seriously, we always have. This distribution of funds will assist these community organizations to continue their crucial work and support their personal contributions to make life better for everyone in their communities.”

The Midcontinent Foundation is the charitable arm of Midcontinent Communications. The Foundation was established in 1987 to provide funding assistance to charitable entities (as defined by the Internal Revenue Service) that assist in socially-desirable goals within the communities which Midcontinent is a part. Organizations that serve communities within the Midcontinent service area are encouraged to apply for future grants for special projects, facilities improvements, equipment, and programs (not operational costs). To date, the Midcontinent Foundation has distributed nearly $3.5 million to charitable non-profit organizations throughout South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota.

The Foundation Board will meet again in February of 2015 to review the next round of applications. Charitable organizations with special or capital projects are encouraged to apply for a Foundation grant before January 20, 2015. More information can be found at Midco.com/Foundation.
