May 27, 2025 – West Metro Minneapolis, MN: Midco is proud to announce the expansion of its award-winning fiber internet network to homes and businesses in the following communities beginning this summer:
• Long Lake
• Maple Plain
• Medina
• Mound
• Orono
• Shorewood
• St. Bonifacius
This expansion follows the completion of construction in Loretto, where residents now have access to Midco’s internet, TV and phone services. Construction will also resume in Independence and Minnetrista, where network expansion will provide increased access to area residents.
“We are thrilled to expand our Midco fiber network across the West Metro,” said Midco President and Chief Operating Officer Ben Dold. “When Minnesota residents see our Midco trucks in their neighborhoods, we want them to know that our quality construction promise is part of our Customer Commitment. Our service and maintenance technicians are also first-time right certified, meaning services are installed or repaired right the first time.”
West Metro residents can visit Midco.com/Hello today to preregister for services and view a live map showing projected fiber construction dates, progress and service availability in their area. Residents can also sign up for updates on Midco construction progress and be placed on a priority list for when services launch at their address. Business owners can fill out a consultation form to be contacted by a customer service representative.
Midco.com/Hello details the Midco fiber installation process that West Metro residents will see this summer:
• Step 1: Marking. Safety first! Before digging begins, we prioritize safety by working with local authorities to flag and spray paint underground utilities.
• Step 2: Prepping. Protecting your property. Our construction teams set fiber-optic access points at public easements to minimize disruptions to your property.
• Step 3: Laying. Precise placement. Guided by markings, we carefully expose underground utilities and install conduits for the fiber cables.
• Step 4: Restoring. Tidying your space. After construction, we remove all markers and restore your lawn.
• Step 5: Installing. Flexible scheduling. Set up an appointment at your convenience, and our technicians will arrive on time.
Midco teams are experts at working with residents to answer questions and ensure their yards are restored to their original condition. Residents can text 64326, email homesales@midco.com or start a live chat with a Midco team member at Midco.com/Hello to answer any questions they have.
“At Midco, our mission goes beyond providing first-in-class fiber internet service – it’s also about supporting our West Metro communities,” said Senior Community Relations Manager and Midco Foundation Executive Director Rhonda Erickson. “We love sponsoring projects, non-profits and events in the towns we serve because it reflects our commitment to being a force for good in everything we do.”
