October 22, 2025 – Fargo, ND: Today, Midco is excited to announce the next phase of its multi-year Fiber Forward initiative to transform its first-in-class network in Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead and surrounding communities.
“In 2021, we launched our Fiber Forward commitment to bring next generation fiber connectivity to more than 150,000 homes and businesses throughout North Dakota,” said Midco President and Chief Operating Officer Ben Dold. “Today, we are thrilled to preview the next phase of our network evolution in Fargo. This $18 million investment in fiber network upgrades will bring blazing fast symmetrical speeds, low latency, unmatched reliability and rock-solid security to homes and businesses across the Fargo area.”
$7.6 million will fund symmetrical, multi-gig fiber internet for over 36,000 homes and businesses in Fargo, West Fargo, and Horace by 2026. Upgrades will begin in Mapleton, Dilworth, Harwood, Casselton, Oxbow, Frontier, Reiles Acres, and Sabin in 2027, with completion in all of Fargo and Moorhead by 2028. Customers will get symmetrical 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) speeds and can opt for a 2 Gbps download/1 Gbps upload plan.
“Midco currently has the most reliable internet speeds in Cass County according to Ookla® Speedtest® data analysis1, and this Fargo network investment will continue to bring our fiber internet speeds and customer experience to the next level,” Dold said.
“Today’s economy depends on robust digital infrastructure,” said Shannon Full, President & CEO, Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. “Midco’s investment enhances our region’s connectivity, ensuring that we not only stay globally competitive, but are also able to continue attracting companies and talent to our region.”
As part of its commitment to Fargo customers, Midco will continue to invest in the community through its Foundation grants, free nonprofit public service announcements, sponsorships and community event support.
“Fulfilling Midco’s Fiber Forward vision is as much about community partnership as it is technological innovation,” said Midco Senior Community Relations Manager and Foundation Executive Director Rhonda Erickson. “The Midco Foundation awarded $120,000 in nonprofit support after our last board meeting, including 24 grants to incredibly deserving North Dakota organizations. We are committed to being a force for good in every community we serve and are honored to partner with some of Fargo’s most impactful nonprofits.”
The Fargo Park District Foundation also celebrated the next phase of Midco’s investment.
“Midco’s partnership with the Fargo Park District and our Foundations has been nothing short of transformative for our community. Their support of the Fargo Parks Sports Center—through the Midco Track and Midco Lounge—and Broadway Square’s Midco Pavilion has created vibrant, inclusive spaces that bring people together year-round,” said Fargo Park District Foundation Executive Director Craig Bjur. “The Midco walking track offers thousands of residents a safe and accessible way to stay active and healthy, especially during our long winter months. We’re proud to collaborate with Midco in building a stronger, healthier and more connected region.”
“This $18 million Fiber Forward upgrade phase will help power Fargo’s economic engine,” said Midco Senior VP of Operations Steve Mattern. “By providing homes, businesses and schools the very best fiber network access in the market, we are doing our part to support the connectivity, commerce and education that make Fargo a vibrant and thriving community.”
