Approved Modems
Compare Modems
Midco tests and certifies specific modems to work with our network – to ensure they deliver the speed and capacity our customers expect, as well as meet our network requirements.
Important: As of June 30, 2021, any non-Midco provided modem must have DOCSIS 3.1 technology. See the Approved Modems and DOCSIS Modems sections below for more details.
Midco-Provided Modems
- Midco provides modems available for lease or purchase, which are already tested and approved for our network.
- We manage them – meaning we push necessary firmware updates, so you don’t have to.
- Plus, our customer care and field teams know tons about these modems – making it easier to help solve any problems that might pop up.
(Note that different equipment is used for fiber internet or fixed wireless internet service.)
Third-Party Modems and Routers
If you’re considering purchasing and operating your own internet equipment, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- We’re not able to provide technical support for third-party equipment that’s not provided by Midco.
- Even if you bring your own modem or router, it must be compatible with our network. See our approved modems list below for details.
- We only provide user guides for currently approved modems. We do not provide user guides for older modems.
Midco internet service requires one of these modems. This equipment has been certified as compatible with our network and brings you the best quality of service for your connection.
- Important: As of June 30, 2021, any non-Midco-provided modem must have DOCSIS 3.1 technology. All the modems below meet 3.1 standards. See the DOCSIS Modems section below for more details.
- To view any modem’s user guide, click the respective brand/model name.
- Standard modems are non-wireless modems, meaning they don’t have Wi-Fi network capabilities. If you want a Wi-Fi network, choose a wireless modem or bring your own wireless router.
- Note that different equipment is used for fiber internet or fixed wireless internet service.

We offer service through DOCSIS 3.1, which delivers internet to your home and enables speeds for your devices. However, the age and software of your devices have a major impact the speed, performance and capacity of your internet. Please consult with your device manufacturer to determine the speed and other capabilities of your specific devices.
Fiber Internet Equipment
When you use internet service from Midco, we provide you with an optical network unit (ONU) in your home that delivers your internet connection.
If you want Wi-Fi, you need a gateway or router to connect to your ONU. Current Midco-provided wireless gateways can reach speeds up to 1 Gbps downloads and uploads. Midco-provided gateways are:
- Available for lease or purchase
- Already tested and approved for the Midco Network
- Managed by Midco, meaning we push necessary firmware updates
- Supported by Midco’s technical customer care team
For packages with speeds greater than 1 Gbps, you must purchase your own router with a wide area network (WAN) port to match the speeds you’d like to receive.
You may use your own purchased router with Midco Fiber Internet service. To reach speeds above 1 Gbps available with Midco Fiber Internet service, you must provide your own router that meets the following specifications.
- For 1 Gbps speeds: a WAN interface with a 1 Gb port or higher
- For 2 Gbps speeds: a WAN interface with a 2.5 Gb port or higher
- For 5 Gbps speeds: a WAN interface with a 5 Gb port or higher
If you purchase and operate your own internet equipment, keep in mind that we’re not able to provide technical support or firmware updates for third-party equipment. Please refer to the router manufacturer for support details.
Fixed Wireless Equipment
When you use fixed wireless internet service from Midco, a router and antenna on your property deliver the internet connection to your home.
- Midco equipment on a nearby tall water tower, elevator or other structure sends a signal to an antenna at your home.
- Your antenna connects to an adapter that connects to a router in your home. Midco provides and installs the antenna for you.
- You can plug in a wired internet connection via Ethernet to your router, and also connect Wi-Fi devices if you have a wireless router. Midco provides routers (for lease or purchase) for fixed wireless customers only. However, you have the option to use your own router if you choose.
