Midco Announces Gift Supporting Scandia Water Tower Barn Project

August 12, 2025 – Scandia, MN: Today, Midco announced a gift of $50,000 to support the Scandia Heritage Alliance (SHA) and the construction of Scandia’s Water Tower Barn Arts and Heritage Center.
The project will preserve Minnesota’s last remaining tankhouse and establish a preeminent community gathering place to celebrate arts, history and cultural heritage.
“This generous gift from Midco affirms what we’ve believed all along—that the Water Tower Barn isn’t just a dream, it’s a shared vision,” said Susan Rodsjo, chair of the SHA Board. “It’s heartening to see longtime community members and new partners come together to invest in a gathering place that will serve Scandia for generations to come.”
Tankhouse Café: Powered by Midco
In addition to the financial gift, Midco will install and connect internet service at the arts and heritage center, an in-kind donation valued at $16,000. Ongoing Midco internet service will be provided at no charge through 2028, adding another $5,000 in annual value and bringing the total value of Midco’s donation to $71,000.
“We’re proud to be part of something that brings people together,” said Midco President and Chief Operating Officer Ben Dold. “Supporting the Water Tower Barn is our way of saying thank you. We’re excited to help create a space that reflects the heart of this community.”
SHA will recognize the company’s donation with signage reading, “Tankhouse Café: Powered by Midco,” at the center’s outdoor coffee kiosk. The menu will feature two items named in Midco's honor: the Midco Mocha and a coffee-pastry combo called the Midco Morgonfika (“morning coffee break” in Swedish).
“We’re proud to stand alongside Scandia in bringing the Water Tower Barn vision to life,” said Midco Sr. Director of Government Relations Andrew Curley. “The outdoor café will be a vibrant symbol of collaboration, and we’re honored that Midco’s name will be part of it.”
