June 11, 2025 – Box Elder, SD: Midco is proud to announce network upgrades that bring multi-gigabit internet speeds to more homes and businesses in Box Elder.
This $470,000 investment in Midco’s best-in-class network in Box Elder provides more customers access to symmetrical 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) upload and download plans. Customers wanting additional download speeds will have access to a 2 Gbps download/1 Gbps upload package.
“Download and upload speeds of one Gbps allow our Box Elder and Ellsworth Air Force Base customers to work, stream, game, communicate and entertain with ease,” said Midco President and Chief Operating Officer Ben Dold. “Thanks to these investments in our network, Midco customers can operate more devices with more reliability – all at incredible multi-gigabit speeds powered by fiber.”
This milestone in Box Elder follows Midco’s $500 million Fiber Forward investment, an expansive commitment that uses the company’s robust fiber network and next gen fiber tech to bring 10 gigabit speeds to the region. Midco provides the fastest internet upload and download speeds in Pennington and Meade Counties according to Ookla® Speedtest® data analysis.1
Superior network reliability, including 99.9% average fiber network uptime, is part of the 12-point Midco Customer Commitment.
“Over the next four years, we will complete a systemwide upgrade across the Midco footprint that will provide ubiquitous, symmetrical 1 Gbps speeds to 95 percent of our passings,” Dold said. “Box Elder remains an essential part of that upgrade, and we look forward to investing in the community for many more years to come.”
