Device Freeze
The Device Freeze feature allows you to easily manage how much time is spent on the internet by a device or person by using a Freeze schedule.
Prevent specific devices from coming online during scheduled timeframes such as school nights or bedtimes – or whenever you need no screens. This feature is useful for parents who want to limit how much time their children spend on the internet.
Note: You can freeze device usage for shorter periods of time using the Time Out feature. A Device Freeze can be applied to a single device, while a Time Out can also be applied to a person’s assigned devices.
- From the Home screen, select the People icon in the navigation bar. Switch over to the Devices
- Select the device in the app to access the device details page.
- Tap on Schedule Internet Freeze.

What will someone see when their device is frozen?
When a device is frozen, it will not be able to access content. How that is displayed depends on the content you are trying to access.
- If they try to load an HTTP site, you will be redirected to the captive portal screen.
- If they try to load an HTTPS site, the page will simply timeout or say it cannot be reached.
The profiles available for scheduling a Device Freeze are predetermined times when a device will be frozen. You can override a scheduled Device Freeze by either unfreezing the device until the end of the day (midnight) or removing it completely.
- Until End of Day: Manually freeze the device until midnight on the day applied.
- School Nights: Schedule the device to freeze as early as 5 pm to as late as 9 am on Sundays through Thursdays.
- Bedtime: Schedule the device to freeze as early as 5 pm to as late as 9 am seven days a week.
- Indefinitely: Manually freeze the device from when applied to when removed.
- Custom: Schedule a custom device freeze any time of day, any day(s) of the week.
Cloud Scheduling
The Midco Wi-Fi cloud stores device freezing information and communications with your Midco equipment for scheduled start and stop times. If the cloud connection is lost, the equipment will not be updated with the current freeze details.
If the equipment is not connected to the cloud:, frozen devices will remain frozen after their scheduled time until the equipment reconnects to the cloud. The same is true when manually freezing or unfreezing devices.
Manual Freezing and Time Outs
Much like a scheduled freeze, a manual freeze uses the Indefinitely profile to freeze a device until the freeze is cancelled. This type of device freeze will persist, even if the device is disconnected from the network for a long period of time.
Interrupt Internet Freeze
You can interrupt the internet freeze by either choosing Unfreeze Until End of Day or Clear Internet Freeze to reset the freeze internet schedule.
