Scandia, MN – Midco continues its commitment to expand broadband services in Scandia. In partnership with the City of Scandia and the State of Minnesota, Midco will bring last mile fiber to 78 underserved homes and one business in Scandia. Midco’s high-speed wired broadband internet is capable of symmetrical 5 Gbps speeds, which exceed Minnesota’s 2026 state speed goals.

“This has truly been a joint effort,” said Senior Director of Government Relations Justin Forde. “We are thrilled to once again partner with Scandia and the State of Minnesota to bring a Midco connection to more of our friends, neighbors and area businesses.”

Since 2020, Midco and the City of Scandia have partnered with the State of Minnesota’s Border-to-Border Broadband Development Grant Program to extend services to 279 households in Scandia. This year’s grant totaled $78,824.

The broadband network extension will improve access to critical e-learning applications and health care resources, enable telecommuting options for residents and make businesses and city institutions more efficient. The network expansion work is expected to begin this year.
