December 18, 2014 - Sioux Falls, SD: The Midcontinent Foundation, the charitable giving arm of the Midcontinent family of companies, invites non-profit organizations in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota to submit grant applications. 

The grant application deadline is Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

Eligible organizations include those with 501(c)(3) status, local governments and schools in Midcontinent service areas. The grants can be used for special projects, facilities improvements, equipment and programs (not operational costs).

“Our customers and employees expect us to support their investments of time, talent and treasure to enhance their hometowns. One of the ways we accomplish that is through the Midcontinent Foundation,” says Tom Simmons, Chairman of the Midcontinent Foundation. “While we can’t cover every request, we strongly encourage organizations to visit our website and apply online as soon as possible.”

The Midcontinent Foundation was established in 1987 to provide funding assistance to charitable entities (as defined by the Internal Revenue Service) that assist in socially desirable goals in our communities. The Foundation accepts grant applications at Midco.com twice annually. The Foundation Board of Directors meets in the spring and fall to review grant applications. 

Midcontinent Foundation Giving: By the Numbers

• In fall 2014, Midcontinent distributed $94,328 to 62 charities.
• Nearly $3.5 million has been contributed to date (since 1987).
• Organizations in more than 130 communities served by Midcontinent have received Foundation grants.
