Ranked by Forbes as America’s Best Midsize Employer Since 2021

Midco has been honored by Forbes as one of America's Best Midsized Employer three years in a row – 2021, 2022 and 2023. Participants were asked whether they would recommend their employer to friends and family, and to evaluate their employer based on criteria including working conditions, diversity, compensation packages, potential for development and company image. They also nominated organizations other than their own. Midco was additionally rated as South Dakota’s #1 employer by the same study.

J.D. Power 2022 Highest Ranking

Midco earned the highest ranking in Customer Satisfaction for Residential Internet Service in the North Central region by J.D. Power.1 The 2022 U.S. Residential Internet Service Provider Satisfaction Study is based on responses from 22,945 customers that currently have internet service with a provider included in the study. The study measures overall satisfaction with internet service providers based on five factors: performance and reliability; cost of service; communications and promotions; billing and payment; and customer care. The study was fielded from November 2021 through August 2022.

Rated #61 of the Top Midsized Employers in America by Forbes

Midco was rated among the best midsized companies to work for in America. Forbes ranked companies by asking more than 60,000 participants to rate their willingness to recommend their employers to friends and family. They were also asked to nominate organizations other than their own. Midco placed 61 out of the 500 businesses that received the most recommendations.

Jon Pederson Named SCTE Chairman’s Award Winner

Chief Technology Innovation Officer Jon Pederson recently received the 2022 SCTE® Chairman’s Award. He was honored at the recent SCTE Cable-Tec Expo® in Philadelphia, PA. This award is presented to recognize Jon’s “significant support of the Society.” Jon joins a distinguished group of SCTE Chairman’s Award recipients.

J.D. Power 2021 Highest Ranking

2020 Eric Sevareid Awards

Midco SportsTM earned recognition from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association for the seventh year in a row, with awards in Sports Play-by-Play and Sportscast. The awards honor the best work of broadcast news operations and journalists in small, medium and large markets in the Upper Midwest. Watch the award-winning videos.

2020 Top 25 Women in Business

Prairie Business Magazine named Midco Director of Advertising Sales Shauna Wimer to their Top 25 Women in Business list in 2020. See the whole list in the magazine. Midco CMO Trish McCann, COO Debbie Stang and VP of Sales Erin Ostler have previously been named to this list.

Prairie Business Magazine 40 Under 40

Bob Bartelt, Midco’s Director of Customer Experience Operations, was named one of Prairie Business Magazine’s 40 Under 40 in 2019. Every December, the magazine publishes its list of the region’s top 40 professionals under the age of 40 who boast impressive careers and community involvement. Senior Director of Creative Services Jeannie Thurston and Director of Field Operations Steve Mattern previously earned a spot on this list.

2019 Upper Midwest Emmy Awards

David Brown, Midco Sports On-Air Talent, earned his first Upper Midwest Emmy Award. He won in the Writer - Program (Non-News) category for the Midco Sports Magazine story, No Nonsense.

2019 SME Women of Excellence Award

Annette Adams, Midco National & Political Advertising Representative, was honored at the annual Women of Excellence Awards from Sales and Marketing Executives, Inc. of Sioux Falls. She earned the Excellence in Sales award. See the list of honorees.

2019 Telly Awards

Midco Business and Midco Sports earned awards in seven categories at the 40th Annual Telly Awards. These awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens. At the 39th Telly awards in 2018, Midco earned a Silver Telly and a People's Choice bronze award, and Midco Sports earned two bronze awards.

2019 Silver ADDY Award

The MidcoSN Team took home a Silver ADDY award for their work on Day By Day: Inside Fighting Hawks Football. The 15-episode on University of North Dakota’s 2018 season features in-depth footage with players and coaches. These awards recognize excellence in advertising and outstanding creative and production techniques, and showcase local, regional and national content.

Disability Friendly Recognition Award

Business Resource Network awarded Midco with a Disability Friendly Recognition Program award on Thursday, December 20, 2018. The Disability Friendly Recognition Program awards are given to businesses in Sioux Falls that employ at least one person with a disability. Jessica Lamb, Augie Access Program Director, nominated Midco because of their employment of Trailblazers as an intern, and then a part time employee.

Other Awards

2018 Top 50 Best Places to Work – For the fourth consecutive year in a row, Prairie Business Magazine selected Midco as one of the top 50 best places to work in the Midwest. The magazine invites employees from for-profit companies to complete a survey annually on their website. Based on the feedback, Prairie Business selects the top 50 employers, with 25 each in large employer and small employer categories. See what makes Midco a great place to work.

2018 WICT PAR Diversity & Inclusion Award – Based on the results of its survey measuring the status of women employees in the cable industry, Women in Telecommunications (WICT) presented Midco with the award at its annual Signature Luncheon on April 4, 2018. 

2018 EmBeliever Award – Midco President & CEO Pat McAdaragh won the 2018 EmBeliever award at the 45th annual EmBe Tribute to Women awards ceremony on April 19. The award celebrates a person or business that demonstrates the mission of EmBe – to enrich the community by empowering women and families.

2018 20 Under 40 – Chuck Stahl, Field Technician II - Level 2 at Midco, was named one of the Southern Red River Valley's 20 Under 40 on March 29. This first-annual event was a chance to celebrate the region's most driven young professionals in the southern Red River Valley.

2018 ADDY Awards – The Midco Production Team won three Gold ADDY awards and three Silver ADDY awards in 2018 at the American Advertising Federation of the Black Hills, the ND American Advertising Awards and the Annual South Dakota American Advertising Awards. These awards recognize excellence in advertising and outstanding creative and production techniques, and showcase local, regional and national content.

2017 Top Company for People of Color – The National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) named Midco a Top Company for People of Color. It recognized Midco for its high level of achievement in key diversity and inclusion areas. Midco also earned this distinction in 2015.
