Midco Foundation Awards $100,000 to Groups in 30 Communities

Sept. 27, 2016 – Sioux Falls, SD: The Midco® Foundation, the charitable arm of the Midco family of companies, continues to invest in the future of the communities it serves. This fall, it awarded $100,000 in grants to 65 nonprofits, schools and government organizations in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
The Foundation board, comprised of Midco employees, reviews and approves funding requests to charitable entities twice a year. Since 1987, the Foundation has awarded more than $3.7 million to causes within its service area. Some of this year’s grantees include
- African Communities United in Sioux Falls, SD: $2,000 for a job training program for refugees and new Americans
- YWCA of Minot, ND: $1,700 for surveillance cameras in the women and children’s homeless shelter
- Chisago City Fire Department in Chisago, MN: $1,000 to purchase equipment to stabilize vehicles and structures
“Midco is committed to investing in the communities in which we live and work,” said Wynne Haakenstad, Director of Programming for Midco and Chairperson of the Midco Foundation. “We know that our long-term success is directly linked to the success of our customers and the communities we serve, and we’re pleased to be able to support these 65 organizations that are doing such great work in their communities.”
The Midco Foundation encourages nonprofit organizations in the communities it serves to apply for future grants for special projects, facilities improvements, equipment and programs. Review the requirements, criteria and application at Midco.com/Foundation. Applications for the spring 2017 grant cycle will open on October 1, 2016 and will be accepted through January 10, 2017.
