June 22, 2023 – Sioux Falls, SD: After 38 years at Midco, Chief Technology & Innovation Officer Jon Pederson will step away from the company at the end of the year.

Pederson started at Midco as an intern in 1985. Over the course of nearly four decades, he served many roles in technical and strategic leadership. Known for his ability to think futuristically and explain technology in a relatable way, Pederson’s notable achievements are vast. He designed and implemented MidcoNet® Internet service and Midco’s digital phone product, and he created Midco’s multi-state fiber network. Pederson and his teams were also among the first to test and deploy gigabit service and remote PHY in North America, and he spearheaded Midco’s expansive Fiber Forward initiative which will ultimately achieve 10G capability.

“Inquisitive by nature, Jon would often ask the questions others didn’t think of or were too afraid to ask. He also has a real knack for inspiring action,” said Midco Chair & CEO Pat McAdaragh. “I’ll miss Jon and his unique perspective. I wish him the very best as he pursues his many interests and hobbies.”
